Founded in 2025, we are a UK‑based independent online literary magazine dedicated to dark, unconventional storytelling and poetry, centred on the publication of our anthologies, encompassing:

  • Tales of horror, both mainstream and folk.
  • Visitations to the world of the weird and 'New Weird'.
  • Supernatural tales.
  • Speculative and dystopian excursions.
  • A soupçon, or more, of fantasy.
  • And, as you might expect, tales of the unexpected (or, unexpected tales)... in any category.

In fact, a veritable smorgasbord of delightful mixed bites to feast on!

Curious about the origin of our name, GossamerWight? Read our post here to find out.

What is a literary magazine?

Thanks for asking! Sometimes referred to as literary journals or little magazines to distinguish them from their larger, commercial cousins, literary magazines are periodicals devoted to literature in a broad sense, although many maintain a more specialist focus, as we do.

Literary magazines will typically publish flash fiction, short stories, poetry, essays, literary criticism, book reviews, and interviews with authors and those in the publishing industry, etc. Unlike their printed counterparts, online literary magazines benefit from being able to embed podcast episodes, audio narration to accompany/enhance written stories, and other audio snippets–such as the organ music above. Online literary magazines can also embed videos.

As a publishing medium, independent online literary magazines continue to develop, and we at GossamerWight feel privileged to be part of that journey. Will hope you will join us, if you haven't already done so. What are the benefits of doing so? Read on to discover some...
